Despite an initial lack of coverage, the protests spread country-wide and the crowds grew.

An Islamic economy is free of interest. Islam prohibits all transactions involving interest.Interest is neither a trade nor a profit. It is a means of exploitation and concentration of wealth. The Qur’an says:
"They say, trade is like interest and Allah has allowed trade and prohibited interest." (2:275).
"Whatever you pay as interest, so that it may increase in the property of (other) men, it does not increase with Allah."(30:39).
"O you who believe, do not take interest, doubling and quadrupling, and keep your duty to Allah, so that you may prosper." (3:130).
"O you who believe, observe your duty to Allah and give up what remains (due) from interest, if you are believers. But if you do not do it, then be warned of war from Allah and His messenger; and if you repent, then you shall have your capital. Do not exploit and be not exploited." (2:278-279).
Interest is the basis of modern capitalism. It is completely opposite to Zakah. Zakah channels wealth from the rich to the poor while interest takes away wealth from the poor and hands it over to the rich.

مسائل کا شکوہ کرنا آسان یا اُنکا حل ڈھونڈھنا؟

کہتے ہیں کہ ایک بار چین کے کسی حاکم نے ایک بڑی گزرگاہ کے بیچوں بیچ ایک چٹانی پتھر ایسے رکھوا دیا کہ گزرگاہ  بند ہو کر رہ گئی۔ اپنے ایک پہریدار کو نزدیک ہی ایک درخت کے پیچھےچھپا کر بٹھا دیا تاکہ وہ  آتے جاتے لوگوں کے ردِ عمل سُنے اور اُسے آگاہ کرے۔ 

اتفاق سے جس پہلے شخص کا وہاں سے گزر ہوا وہ شہر کا مشہور تاجر تھا جس نے بہت ہی نفرت اور حقارت سے سڑک کے بیچوں بیچ رکھی اس چٹان کو دیکھا،  یہ جانے بغیر کہ یہ چٹان تو حاکم وقت نے ہی رکھوائی تھی اُس نے  ہر اُس شخص  کو بے نقط اور بے حساب باتیں سنائیں جو اس حرکت کا ذمہ دار  ہو سکتا تھا۔ چٹان کے ارد گرد ایک دو چکر لگائے اور چیختے ڈھاڑتے ہوئے کہا کہ وہ ابھی جا کر اعلیٰ حکام سے اس حرکت کی شکایت کرے گا اور جو کوئی بھی اس حرکت کا ذمہ دار ہوگا اُسے سزا دلوائے بغیر آرام سے نہیں بیٹھے گا۔

اس کے بعد وہاں سے تعمیراتی کام کرنے والے ایک ٹھیکیدار کا گزر ہوا ۔ اُس کا ردِ عمل بھی اُس سے پہلے گزرنے والے تاجر سے مختلف تو نہیں تھا مگر اُس کی باتوں میں ویسی شدت اور گھن گرج نہیں تھی جیسی پہلے والا تاجر دکھا کر گیا تھا۔ آخر ان دونوں کی حیثیت اور مرتبے میں نمایاں فرق بھی توتھا!

اس کے بعد وہاں سے تین ایسے دوستوں کا گزر ہوا جو ابھی تک زندگی میں اپنی ذاتی پہچان نہیں بنا پائے تھے اور کام کاج کی تلاش میں نکلے ہوئے تھے۔ انہوں نے چٹان کے پاس رک کر سڑک کے بیچوں بیچ ایسی حرکت کرنے والے کو جاہل، بیہودہ  اور گھٹیا انسان سے تشبیہ دی،  قہقہے لگاتے اور ہنستے ہوئے اپنے گھروں کو چل دیئے۔

اس چٹان کو سڑک پر رکھے دو دن گزر گئے تھے  کہ وہاں سے ایک مفلوک الحال اور غریب کسان کا گزر ہوا۔ کوئی شکوہ کیئے بغیر جو بات اُس کے دل میں آئی وہ  وہاں  سے گزرنے ولوں کی تکلیف کا احساس تھا اور وہ یہ چاہتا تھا کہ کسی طرح  یہ پتھر وہاں سے ہٹا دیا جائے۔ اُس نے وہاں سے گزرنے والے راہگیروں کو  دوسرے لوگوں کی مشکلات سے آگاہ کیا اور انہیں جمع ہو کر وہاں سے پتھر ہٹوانے کیلئے مدد کی درخواست کی۔ اور بہت سے لوگوں نے مل کر زور لگاکرچٹان نما پتھر وہاں سے ہٹا دیا۔ 

اور جیسے ہی یہ چٹان وہاں سے ہٹی تو نیچے سے ایک چھوٹا سا گڑھا کھود کر اُس میں رکھی ہوئی ایک صندوقچی نظر آئی جسے کسان نے کھول کر دیکھا تو اُس میں سونے کا ایک ٹکڑا اور خط رکھا  تھا جس میں لکھا ہوا تھا کہ: حاکم وقت کی طرف سے اس چٹان کو سڑک کے درمیان سے ہٹانے والے شخص کے نام۔ جس کی مثبت اور عملی سوچ نے مسائل پر شکایت کرنے کی بجائے اُس کا حل نکالنا زیادہ بہتر جانا۔ 

کیا خیال ہے آپ بھی اپنے گردو نواح میں نظر دوڑا کر دیکھ لیں۔ کتنے ایسے مسائل ہیں جن کے حل ہم آسانی سے پیدا کر سکتے ہیں!

تو پھر کیا خیال ہے شکوہ و شکایتیں بند، اور شروع کریں ایسے مسائل کو حل کرنا؟

Obstacles in Life

Time immemorial, there was a king who put a large rock in the middle of the road. King was then in hiding, to see if anyone is willing to remove the stone from the road. Some of the richest merchants who are the partners to walk the king arrived at the huge stone circle. Many also are dating, then cursed the king for not cleaning the road of obstacles. However, none of which would paved the way by getting rid of the stone.
Then came a farmer carrying a lot of vegetables towards justice. Armpit closer farmers are then put vegetables and try to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and pushing he finally got rid of the big stone.


When the farmers want to raise the back of vegetables, place the rock turns out there are pockets that contain a lot of money and gold from the king. Letter stating that the gold is only for people who want to get rid of rocks from the road.


The farmer was later learned, a lesson that we never could understand that at every obstacle hidden opportunities that can be used to improve our lives. If there is a stone that blocks our way then take away that, if there is a wall blocking the way we live then jump. Use all means and our ability to achieve the goal of life we ​​want.

Protest Against Rehman Malik's PHD

Without specifying any scholarly achievements, the University of Karachi has decided to award Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik with an honourary doctorate  at a special convocation.

 
We the Pakistani Youth strongly protest against the awarding of honorary doctorate degree by the university to the Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik. And demand authorities to cancel this degree.



 What exactly has Rehman Malik done to deserve an honour which hard-working students strive for many, many years to achieve? How hypocritical is it to award a man a degree for peace in a country where hundreds of people are dying by the day?

 I have compiled a list of facts which highlight just how much peace Rehman Malik has brought in to this country, especially in the ‘City of Lights’:

1. From 2003 – 2007 the total casualties from suicide and terrorism incidents were 6,800. However, after the PPP came in to power and "Rehman Malik" took charge, the number of casualties rose much higher.

In 2008 alone 6,715 people were killed.

In 2009, 11,585 people and 

in 2010 7,435 people were killed.

Up until till  February 2011, 708 people have been killed in Pakistan due to terrorism related incidents and attacks.

Some peace Dr Rehman Malik has brought us. This number is a staggering 26,443, almost four times the amount of people killed during from 2003 to 2007. If the award were for quadrupling the death toll, Malik certainly deserves it.

2. Target killing in Karachi has worsened and hundreds of people have died during Malik’s tenure.

In 2008, 777 people lost their lives in Karachi. Over the years this number has increased.

2009: 272

2010: 1.339

2011: 1495 (so far)

3. The situation in Balochistan has worsened and if proper steps are not taken we might loose another part of Pakistan.

4. US drones have been entering Pakistan and have killed civilians almost every day.

5. It was under Malik’s reign that US forces entered our territory to capture and kill Osama bin Laden

These are just the top five facts I have compiled which clearly reason that awarding Rehman Malik a PhD degree for peace is a joke to say in the least.

In our opinion, this degree has only been conferred on him for his ‘matchless’ efforts of bringing the MQM back in to government time and again and his ‘matchless’ patience in listening to the accusations constantly levelled at him.

We feel Rehman Malik does not deserve the honorable title of ‘doctor’ next to his name. In our opinion, he has brought us only pain, misery and shame. In fact, awarding him the award of a PhD lessens the value of this prestigious degree in all Pakistani’s eyes. It is such a tragedy that the leaders of our country reward people based on their connections rather than their achievements.


Students, Teachers, Professors are other civil society members are requested to protest against honoring Ph.D doctorate degree to Rehman Malik by Karachi University.

We feel offended by this attempt to discredit the doctorate degree of Karachi University, which is a state university, by using it for political gains.
